Privacy policy

Applies to the An Nhịp app (m-Mental-Health) on Android. Last updated: 25 July 2026. This content faithfully reflects the "Your privacy" section shown inside the app.

Summary

  • Your data stays on your device. Data is stored locally (local-first). The app does not send data anywhere on its own; a research file leaves your device only when you choose to export it.
  • No sign-in needed. The app does not collect your name, email, phone number or identity.
  • You are in control of your data. Nothing is saved by default. You can delete the data the app manages at any time.

What data is stored on your device

The app saves an exercise session only when you complete that session and actively tap Save. A session you abandon, or choose not to save, is never recorded. A saved session may include:

  • The exercise type (breathing, grounding, thought record) and when you did it (date only, no time of day).
  • Your anxiety level before and after the exercise, if you choose to enter it. This field can always be left blank.
  • Your heart rate, if you choose to enter it manually. This field can always be left blank.
  • The thought record text you write, if you choose to save that session.
  • The emotion you pick in the daily mood check-in.
  • App settings (for example the app lock and your consent choices).

What data is not collected

  • No name, email, phone number, contacts or any identifying information.
  • No location, camera, microphone.
  • No server: the app has no backend, no cloud sync, no account.
  • No analytics SDK, no ads SDK, no behavioral tracking.

Extra layers of protection

  • Sensitive data is excluded from your device's cloud backups.
  • To protect sensitive content, the app blocks screenshots and hides content in the recent-apps list.
  • Every sensitive action (saving a session, entering heart rate, exporting a research file) goes through its own consent step. No path skips this step.

Research data export

If you take part in the thesis research, you can export a summary CSV file to send to the research team yourself. The export only happens when you consent and tap export yourself. The exported file uses a random participant code, never linked to your real identity, and never contains thought record text. The app's data structure is designed so the export query physically cannot reach the raw text you wrote.

Deleting data

In the app's Settings, you can delete all data the app manages at any time. Note: files you have exported or shared outside the app are not deleted along with it. Uninstalling the app also deletes all local data.

Medical note and emergency support

The app is developed for academic purposes within the scope of a thesis. An Nhịp is not a medical device, does not provide diagnoses, and does not replace advice from a doctor or mental health professional.

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or others, are going through a serious crisis, or have chest pain, trouble breathing or other dangerous symptoms, contact someone you trust or a medical facility right away, or call 115 (Vietnam’s medical emergency number).

Policy changes and contact

When the policy changes (for example when the app is released on Google Play), this page will be updated with the new effective date.
